Broken Promise I give this a 3.5 rating I definitely enjoyed this onethan the first book I liked how she was finally starting to figure things out I was glad about her decision in the boyfriend department I will admit it would have been better without the love triangle part However, when this was written that was still the in thing to do I just hope everything is wrapped up nicely in the next book. the characters, for example I thought that by giving an opportunity to the sequel I would feel better about it maybe the characters will grow up on me, I thought , but I was wrong and I m not really sure if I want to read the last book. So, let s get to the review I ,pretty much, think you already know this from the first book Oleander Riley I still don t understand this girl, she s one of the most annoying characters I ve ever read She constantly seems mad at life and I can t stand her frivolous comments, are they supposed to be funny Because they aren t funnyat all Also, she constantly acts like a disrespectful spoiled brat who doesn t really know what she wants in her life The relationship she had with Adam and Kallan was unbelievably dysfunctional, I felt like she was playing with them like they were dolls Especially when she said things like There had to be a way to keep us all together Except not all of us could be Either Kallan or Adam had to go like I have a better idea Oleander.why don t you just go away forever or die and leave both guys so they can, finally, be happy with girls who really deserve them Moreover, When it came to discuss important things about the fairy world or her future she would ALWAYS say I don t want to talk about this right now It was like she didn t want to grow up move on affront the problem be rational THINKI just don t understand this kind of character, and it makes me feel kind of sad because I feel like YA is not for me any Thanks to the brainless protagonists But I haven t finishAlso, she would like a bitch do something wrong, blame her behavior on someone else because Oleander is perfect, perfect daughter, perfect girlfriend, perfect student, perfect friend In fact, she doesn t make mistakes eveeeeer , then cried because she had a lot of feelings ANDOleander was forgiven because.because.she s that cool, NOT Sothat s basically it I didn t want to spoil anything interesting This story revolves around Rylei Oleander, so there s not much left to say about the other characters without spoiling Besides, at the end I didn t care which one she chose or what she chose for her future.I just wanted to end it all, so I could grab another book without so much angst in it NoRylie Oleander.Questions Why don t they use their wings I haven t read about a fairy flying Lame What s the point in having wings if you can t fly That s so true Sierra, so true Why is Oleander SO annoying and selfish WHY view spoiler The villain wasn t a good villain.that doesn t make sense and that s not a question hide spoiler The Ending Glad you realize what you wanted at the end, Rylie What the hell took you so long You know, besides being you Over A Year Has Passed Since Rylie Returned To Her Human Life She Now Knows The Truth About Her Past And The Destiny She Can T Yet Accept Rylie Struggles To Choose Between Two Different Worlds, Each With A Boy She Loves News That Her Father Is Alive Complicates Her Life EvenAmong The Broken Hearts And Promises, A Chance For A New Beginning Will Emerge Well, this book was just, Neutral. At first, I had thought that the writing had improved than the first book and that it was going to be real good, but then turns out it wasn t really anything special This book continues Rylie s struggle in balancing her identities and relationships in the human world as well as the newly discovered faery world Someone who hasn t read the prequel would never get the hang of what is happening in this book In short, this would be a really bad standalone even i Well, this book was just, happening in this book In short, this would be a really bad standalone even if there isn t much story it is carrying forward from the prequel. There were a lot of revelations in this book The authors tried to addanddetails to this faery world they had created, but to me it felt dumb, as if not much consideration was given to the world building or characterization as much as the romance Another thing that bugged me was the protagonist Not that she was unlikable in fact her narrative was very soothing and comfortable But the way she treated people around her was very unfair Her cousins especially, threatening them to get her way, and Adam too The way she ended things with him without as much as an explanation, was cruel of her Not that I like Adam Ugh no, Rylie and Adam s relationship was basically just kissing mates, nothing else Still, no one deserves to be treated the way Rylie treated Adam. The characters themselves were a bit unrealistic and two dimensional They did not show any reactions a normal human or faery would have under their circumstances AND their straightforward behavior was too good to be believable The happily ever after ending didn t do much to warm me up either. In short, this book had no impact on me whatsoever No sort of emotional response from my side Since I wasn t actually expecting anything, I am not that disappointed either Like I said, neutral Recommended to fans of Twilight, or normal paranormal beings Others you have better books to read I loved the first book in the series and I loved this Rylie that girl, I was obsessed with Kallan Me to hun, me to Kallan has changed but just a little he s still my sweet boy, that I sometimes want to strangle, Rylie I think has made him see his errors or however that saying goes, but he s still just as playful as ever, this is the men s room, you know Generally, that means no girls allowed Rylie we see a different side of her one of jealousy I liked this look on her, sure looks Rylie we see a different side of her one of jealousy I liked this look on her, sure looks like you have a lot of girls to choose from, I told him Maybe you could pick another Kallan is learning to actually speak how he feels which in the last book he never really did, I love you, and I m not walking away I ve been going crazy since you left I d never leave you Kallan why can t you choose me The jealousy works both ways people Kallan also gets a jealous gene in his body, I wasn t to thrilled myself So what You re not allowed to dance with anyone else That s pretty lame I didn t take you for the submissive type Just as the jealous bone comes it goes and left in it s wake is the playfulness, have you ever slept with a guy before Kallan smirked and patted the bed beside him I liked the ending it s what I wanted and was hoping for, although I m not to sure Rylie s story is done so I m hoping there s going to be a third book I m happy to say that book 2 did not disappoint me The book picks up with Rylie back in the human world still hoping life will return to normal A year has passed since she made her promise to return to the dark faeries to marry Kallan, but it hasn t been as easy as she thought it would be to forget the changes in her life She still thinks about Kallan and knows that her feelings for him haven t gone away To make matterscomplicated, he decides to come to her feelings for him haven t gone away To make matterscomplicated, he decides to come to the human world to be closer to her However, Rylie is still determined to find a way out of the promise and have the life she always dreamed of with Adam In addition, as much as she ll want to distance herself from all thing faery and does the past year, things will come to a head when she starts to fail her classes and realizes she is already jeopardizing her future college plans , travels to faery and meets other family members and learnsabout her biological father, and brings Sierra into her confidence and introduces her to the faery world The only negative I have is that she does still drive me a little crazy with how much she tries to be normal She isn t and keeping Azura at a distance for a good portion of the book is sad She does eventually see the beauty in faery, but then tragedy strikes and again, becomes a bit of a brat At the end, she ll still have to make a choice between Kallan and Adam, and her responsibilities in faery I m happy to say she does finally make the right choice at least to me I so needed someKallan so I dived straight in to Broken Promise and Julia Crane and Talia Jager did not disappoint Rylie is still having a hard time dealing with the fact that her parents are not who she thought they were her entire life Then to make matterscomplicated Rylie keeps seeing Teal in her vision and knows Kallan is near Why would he be in the human world Back to school and the new guy is getting all the girls attention Guess who Kallan decides to enroll like this book took me to wonderland where the grass is green and flowers bloom everywhere, and you can practically taste the magic in the air Julia Crane and Talia Jager did a BEAUTIFUL job creating a believable faery world I commend you Throughout the book I wanted things to work out so much between Rylie and Kallan, and as the story continued I fellin love with him as a male lead And here s a heads up in this series, faeries can t tell a lie, soo every emotion given between the two was brutally honest which was awesome There were no hidden secrets, no emotions that were held back, Kallan just lays his heart out on the table, and it was beautiful The tension is set high in this book as the love triangle grows stronger, and I found myself aggravated by how much I wanted it to just play out romantically how I wanted it to But believe me when I say that by the end of this book I was completely satisfied and sooo eager for So I must say I like Adam Yeah, Adam s great but I kept rooting for Kal Kallan Kal just appealed to meNone of this is Adam s fault I had to agree with Ry on that one I had mixed feelings about her, but she has really become an awesome heroine better than a lot of popular books I also love how she wasn t all of a sudden this badass fighter ready to kill as a teenager, but was capable of accepting that some things were inevitable and even a little funny A lot happened There was ch So I must say I like Adam Yeah, Adam s great but I kept rooting for Kal Kallan Kal just appealed to meNone of this is Adam s fault I had to agree with Ry on that one I had mixed
