Christopher Douglas performs and co-writes ED REARDON’S WEEK for Radio 4, now in its tenth series and voted ‘Best Radio Programme’ by the Broadcasting Press Guild in 2005 and again in 2010. He is also the voice and co-creator of the world’s most disappointing cricketer Dave Podmore. ‘Pod’ has been a Radio 4 regular since 2001 and he’ll be giving it a thousand and one percent again radio-wise in 2015.
Christopher writes and directs the improbably long-running career of uber-thesp NICHOLAS CRAIG (played by Nigel Planer), who first appeared in book form in 1988 and has since made two BBC2 series and five one-hour programmes for BBC4.
Christopher’s stage work includes SCOUT’S HONOUR (The Standard awards Best Comedy nomination), THEATRICAL DIGS, AN EVENING WITH NICHOLAS CRAIG and ED REARDON: A WRITER’S BURDEN.
Dave Podmore was a Guardian columnist for ten years before moving to the Cricinfo website, and Christopher continues to write occasional newspaper and magazine pieces.
Books: I, AN ACTOR, DOUGLAS JARDINE – SPARTAN CRICKETER, POD ALMIGHTY!, ED REARDON’S WEEK and THE WORD OF POD.
Other radio credits include two plays – THE ENGLISHMAN ABROAD and DOLLY, two series of MASTERING THE UNIVERSE starring Dawn French and three series of BEAUTY OF BRITAIN starring Jocelyn Jee Esien. He has presented Pick of the Week and Comedy Club on 4 Extra.
