    Just received this book and it s exactly what I was hoping it would be There s an extensive compilation of articles chronicling events as they were witnessed by reporters on or near the front lines The reports from First Bull Run Manassas are a nice sampler, with some of the early dispatches trumpeting a great Union victory but then later reports documenting stories told by soldiers stragging into Washington that it had been a disaster Then comes the inevitable analysis and spin doctoring, with some saying
