Stephen Russell

Stephen is currently developing new material including an original project with BBC Wales. He has completed MAKING DAD’S ARMY – a single film about the popular BBC show for Darlow Smithson/BBC. He also wrote an episode of PEAKY BLINDERS for BBC2.

Other recent TV credits include HATTIE (BBC 4), GARROW’S LAW (BBC 1), SHAMELESS (Channel 4), DROP DEAD GORGEOUS (BBC 3) and CORONATION STREET (ITV).

Hattie was nominated for a Scottish Drama BAFTA 2011 and Broadcast Digital Award 2011. Drop Dead Gorgeous won a British Comedy Award for Best Comedy Drama 2008. Coronation Street episodes written by Stephen were BAFTA nominated and won an RTS award 2007.

Theatre credits: the adaptation of Philip Pullman’s THE FIREWORK-MAKER’S DAUGHTER (Sheffield Crucible, the Lyric Hammersmith, Birmingham Old Rep and throughout Europe) and a rewrite of ME AND MY GIRL (Sheffield Crucible).
